WATER-STOP
EXTERIOR FINISH

Weather
resistant liquid membrane used for long term waterproofing and decoration
of building surfaces.
DESCRIPTION:
WATER-STOP EXTERIOR FINISH
forms a flexible waterproof lining that is resistant to weathering
for many years. Although the membrane is waterproof it allows substrate
moisture to breathe reducing the possibility of blistering. WATER-STOP
EXTERIOR FINISH
may be applied to slightly damp walls. it is UV stable, fungal and algae resistant
and is easily maintained.
USES:
- Trafficable concrete roof deck membrane.
- Balconies with or without tiling.
- Concrete or block work walls, parapets and plywood decks.
- Asbestos roof encapsulation.
- Metal roofs, wall gutters. Facias-new and old.
- Concrete silos and plant room floors.
PREPARATION:
- All surfaces shall be sound, clean, dry and free of release
oils and other contaminates. Check by applying a test area.
Sound painted surfaces are usually suitable after removing chalk.
Roof decks should be properly drained for long term serviceability
of WATER-STOP EXTERIOR FINISH.
Ponding areas deeper than 8mm should be filled and levelled. Apply a 10mm bead
of Denare polyurethane sealant as a bond breaker at corner
details and other penetrations.
- Concrete: remove any laitance or soft concrete by
acid etch or water blast. Prime horizontal surfaces with Denare
Primer/ Sealer applied at 8-6m²/litre. Apply a detail coat of
WATER-STOP EXTERIOR FINISH
to fine cracks. Cracks over 1mm to be cut out and filled with Denare
polyurethane sealant, then covered with a 100mm wide strip of
reinforced WATER-STOP EXTERIOR FINISH.
-
Particle Board and Plywood: Apply a detail coat of reinforced WATER-STOP
EXTERIOR FINISH
to all joints filled with Denare polyurethane sealant. Fill fastening points.
Only reinforce WATER-STOP EXTERIOR FINISH
over joins and penetrations on AC sheeting.
- Compressed Fibrous Cement: prime with Denare
Hydrepoxy. Apply WATER-STOP EXTERIOR FINISH
with reinforcement to all joints and cracks with Denare polyurethane
sealant. Seal and fill fastening points.
- Galvanize/Zincalume: WATER-STOP EXTERIOR FINISH
may be applied to new surfaces after degreasing. Prime heavily oxidised surfaces.
Prime rusted surfaces or where exposed to a corrosive environment
with Denare metal primer.
- Aged Water-Stop Exterior Finish: High pressure wash to remove
chalk etc. prime with Denare primer/sealer then apply WATER-STOP
EXTERIOR FINISH
to specified thickness.
APPLICATION:
- WATER-STOP EXTERIOR FINISH
may be applied by brush, roller or spray.
- Vertical surfaces should receive two coats each of 3m²/L
for normal waterproofing.
- Horizontal surfaces, such as roof decks should receive a
minimum of 3 coats with reinforcement if necessary. Reinforce
WATER-STOP EXTERIOR FINISH
with Denare scrim over cracks, joins and movement areas and 125gsm fibreglass
elsewhere. Place the reinforcing fabric onto the wet surface
of the first coat then apply a further coat and work in carefully
by brush or roller to fully saturate the fibreglass. Apply a
further two or more coats. Approximately 1.4lts of WATER-STOP
EXTERIOR FINISH
is needed per square metre.
