LIQUID MEMBRANES
ELASTO-DECK BT
A
COALTAR FREE ELASTOMERIC WATERPROOFING SYSTEM
ELASTO-DECK BT is a black, liquid applied single-component
moisture-cured polyurethane coating, designed to form a seamless,
flexible rubber membrane impervious to moisture. It is suitable
for use in showers, balconies and other wet areas as described in
Australian Standard AS3740-2004 - "Waterproofing Wet areas
within Residential Buildings."
ELASTO-DECK BT, once
cured, allows contraction and expansion over a broad temperature
range and maintains waterproofing properties under continuous exposure
to water. ELASTO-DECK BT remains flexible from -20°C to 80°C.
ELASTO-DECK BT waterproof membrane is intended for use wherever
overflow water must be contained.
TYPICAL
USES ARE:
- Waterproofing in between concrete slabs, such as
parking decks, roof decks or courtyard areas over subterranean
parking.
- Waterproofing below grade exterior walls or foundations
and basements or other structures that are to be backfilled
- Waterproofing under terrazzo or tiled floors.
- Waterproofing under wet areas including laundry and bathroom
floors.
- Waterproofing inside of elevated swimming pools.
- Waterproofing of occupied areas under malls, plazas and
promenades.
- Waterproofing of emergency water storage tanks for fire
sprinklers. (ELASTO-DECK BT Reservoir Grade should be
used for potable water.)
ADVANTAGES:
- ELASTO-DECK BT is a single-component compound that
may be used directly from the container with no mixing required.
- The addition of catalysts are not necessary, as ELASTO-DECK
BT is a moisture cured compound.
- May be applied by spray equipment, brush, roller, squeegee
or trowel, without the need for heating the material.
- May be applied over concrete, stone, brick, cement blocks,
wood, metal, compressed sheeting and most other surfaces.
- ELASTO-DECK BT cuts cost of application by eliminating
mixing, splicing, sealing tapes, adhesives and other labour
consuming methods required when installing other convential
types of waterproofing systems.
- The superior flexibility and elongation properties of ELASTO-DECK
BT allows expansion and contraction with the substate, without
cracking or becoming brittle.
- Does not contain any potentially hazardous coal tar.
- When fully cured ELASTO-DECK BT does not exhibit
leaching or bleed through.
- When installed to the above specifications this system conforms
to AS 3740-2004 ("Waterproofing of wet areas within residential
buildings.")
INSTALLATION DETAILS:
- Suitable substrates such as villa board, structaboard, plasterboard,
concrete and cement render shall be dry, clean and free from
dust, oil and other contaminates.
- All cracks over 1.0mm in width must be filled and covered
with Denare Polyurethane sealant. Internal corners, penetrations
and other details shall also receive a bead of Denare
Polyurethane sealant.
- Floor wastes in concrete shall be cut to floor level with
no up stands. Particle board or compressed sheet flooring should
have leak control flanges fitted to allow water to drain down
into floor waste.(These to be adhered not screwed or nailed).
- ELASTO-DECK BT is self priming on surfaces such as
villa board, plasterboard, structafloor and sound concrete.
Porous substrates should be filled or primed with ELASTO-DECK
BT thinned with 20% Denare general purpose solvent.
Where substrate has been subject to leakage or may be damp Denare Hydrepoxy
300 should be applied at the rate of 3-5m²/lt. This should be
allowed to cure for at least 2 hours. PVC surfaces must be primed
with Denare ETCH PRIMER
- ELASTO-DECK BT Type II may be used in a single
application (1.2-1.5 litres per m²)on vertical surfaces. Application
must be made uniformly to avoid thin spots and care must be
taken to avoid pinholes and repair them should they occur. Coverage
to obtain 1.25mm is 1.5lt/m². Where a two coat application is
preferred, two coats at 0.75lt/m² per coat to be applied, allowing
a 24 hour cure time between coats.
- A dry film thickness of 1.5mm is reccommended over horizontal
surfaces and 1.00mm is reccommended on vertical surfaces.
- Protection board must be used prior to backfilling of pouring
the concrete topping slab. Do not use polystyrene.
- ELASTO-DECK BT is compatible with most Solvent free
tile adhesives. Careful selection of the adhesive best suited
to the particular substrate, and strict compliance with the
manufacture's instruction is essential.
- ELASTO-DECK BT can be repaired by cleaning the surface
with a solvent wipe. Allow to flash off and recoat with ELASTO-DECK
BT.

Protect membrane from traffic prior to tilling or backfilling. Do
not allow ELASTO-DECK BT to come in contact with bitumen
based products e.g. Damp Course. Designed to be protected from U.V.
exposure. Not suitable for direct stick tiling methods (use screed
method).
CLEAN UP: Uncured
ELASTO-DECK BT products may be removed with Denare
