LIQUID MEMBRANES
WATER-STOP
Water
based polymeric liquid rubber waterproofing for wet areas.
WATER-STOP is a one part polymeric liquid elastomer,
which reinforced and fully cured, forms a flexible waterproof
lining suitable for use in showers and other wet areas as described
in Australian Standard AS3740-1994 "Waterproofing wet areas
within residential buildings." (CSIRO opinion 157)
INSTALLATION
DETAILS:
- Suitable substrates such as villa board, structafloor, plasterboard,
concrete and cement render shall be dry, clean and free from
dust, oil and other contaminates.
- Small hairline cracks, joins internal corners, penetrations
and other details shall receive a bead of Denare Polyurethane
sealant and allow 1 hour to tack dry before proceeding.
- Floor wastes in concrete shall be cut to floor level with
no up stands. Particle board or compressed sheet flooring should
have leak control flanges fitted to allow water to drain down
into floor waste.
- WATER-STOP is self priming on surfaces such as villa
board, plasterboard. Structafloor and sound concrete. Concrete
and other porous substrates must be primed with Denare Primer.
External surfaces must be primed with Denare Primer/Sealer.
Where substrate has been subject to leakage Denare Hydrepoxy
300 should be applied at the rate of 3-5m²/lt. This shouldbe
allowed to cure for at least 2 hours.
- Apply first coat of WATER-STOP to all wall and floor
corners and base of shower tray and hob. Embed reinforcing bandage
into all corners, across the floor of the shower and over the
hob. Apply a saturating coat of WATER-STOP over the above
areas. Immediately there after apply WATER-STOP to walls
within the shower recess and over the entire floor area.
- Apply a second and final coat of WATER-STOP over
the entire area once first coat is dry, approximately 24 hours,
depending on weather. Finished thickness to be between 1mm and
1.5mm thick.
- Allow membrane to fully cure susally 1 to 4 days prior to
tiling. WATER-STOP is compatible with most solvent free
tile adhesives. Careful selection of the adhesive best suited
to the particular substrate, and strict compliance with the
manufacturer's instruction is essential.
